Kidney disease
The kidneys are vital part and are mainly there for removing waste and extra water from the blood in
the body. This waste and water then leave the body as urine. In case the kidneys are not healthy, they
have a hard time removing waste from the blood. Kidney disease moves slowly towards the further
stages and usually has no symptoms. Stage 5 is called “end-stage kidney disease” or ESRD and usually
considered the last stage of kidney damage.
GFR
The GFR tells how much kidney function is left. It may be estimated from the blood level of creatinine. If
the GFR falls below 30 one will need to see a kidney disease specialist or do some lab tests. A GFR below
15 indicates that a person needs to start a proper treatment before any further damage.
Creatinine
Creatinine is a waste product in the blood that comes from muscle activity. It is normally removed from
the blood by the kidneys. But, when kidney function slows down, the creatinine level rises. The serum
creatinine test is used to calculate the GFR for any further treatment.
Ayurveda effect on kidneys
Ayurveda is defined as one of the world's oldest, but most effective systems of medicine and healthy
living. Unlike modern medicine, Ayurveda focuses on promoting good health, rather than treating
disease. Hence, it focuses on 'prevention' a lot more than the 'cure'.
Karma Ayurveda is one such name in the field of Ayurvedic treatment. They mainly focus on a natural
way of healing by herbal medicines, maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active, following a
healthy eating plan, that emphasizes fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy foods, choosing and preparing
foods with less salt and sodium and drinking in moderation. Dr. Puneet Dhawan is an eminent doctor
who is working actively to cure kidney patients with his brand Karma Ayurveda.
